On the coupling of Wave Based models with modally reduced Finite Element models for structural-acoustic analysis

چکیده
This paper presents a newly developed hybrid simulation technique for coupled structural-acoustic analysis, which applies a wave based model for the acoustic cavity and a modally reduced finite element model for the structural part. The resulting hybrid model benefits from the computational efficiency of the wave based method, while retaining the finite element method’s ability to model the structural part of the problem in great detail. Application of this approach to the analysis of a cavity-backed plate assembly shows the improved computational efficiency as compared to classical finite element procedures and illustrates the potential of the hybrid method as a powerful tool for the analysis of coupled structural-acoustic systems.

On the coupling of Wave Based models with modally reduced Finite Element models for 3D interior acoustic analysis
This paper presents a newly developed hybrid simulation technique for uncoupled acoustic analysis of interior cavities. This method applies a Wave Based model for a large, geometrically simple portion of acoustic cavity. The superficial details of the problem domain are modelled using a modally reduced finite element model. The resulting hybrid model benefits from the computational efficiency o...
متن کاملModelling of sound damping multi-layers using a hybrid Finite Element - Wave Based Method
To assess and optimise the effect of multi-layered trim for the reduction of noise and vibration transmission, design engineers greatly depend on CAE tools. Mostly, these are based on element based simulation techniques such as the Finite Element Method (FEM). In practise, however, these methods are limited to low-frequency simulations due to the strongly increasing computational cost with freq...
متن کاملBending Fatigue Tests and Finite Element Models of Steel Rectangular Hollow Sections [SRHS]
The Welding in cold formed areas is not only an open question for statically loaded sections (brittle fracture) but also for dynamically loaded structures (fatigue resistance). A lot of structures are subjected to dynamic loadings and unfortunately very little information about the influence of welding in the cold formed areas on fatigue resistance is available. In order to establish the fatigu...

In this paper an overview of functionally graded materials and constitutive relations of electro elasticity for three-dimensional deformable solids is presented, and governing equations of the Bernoulli–Euler and Timoshenko beam theories which account for through-thickness power-law variation of a two-constituent material and piezoelectric layers are developed using the principle of virtua...
متن کاملNon Uniform Rational B Spline (NURBS) Based Non-Linear Analysis of Straight Beams with Mixed Formulations
Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed traditionally using conventional finite element basis functions (i.e., cubic Hermite, equi-spaced Lagrange interpolation functions, or spectral/hp Legendre functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, tota...
